Ruth Sisson McKenzie

Ruth Elizabeth “Betty” Sisson McKenzie, age 91, died Saturday, August 12. 2006, at her home on Isle of Hope. The Fernandina Beach, Florida native was the daughter of the late Charles Leslie and Ruth Sharpe Sisson and lived in Savannah for most of her adult life. As the daughter of a light house keeper, she spent her early years at various lighthouses along the east coast of Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Golden Age Club and Senior Citizens of Chatham County.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Thomas A. McKenzie. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law. Julie and Bob Workmon, Helen and Tom Taggart of Savannah, and Mary McKenzie of Charleston, two sisters, Charlotte Glendye and Marian Armstrong of Savannah, as well as nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Rosary service will be at 6PM on Tuesday, August 15 in the Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel. The funeral mass will be 10 AM on Wednesday, August 16 at the Our Lady of Good Hope Chapel, Isle of Hope.
The family requests that remembrances be made to Hospice Savannah, Inc.
